Mr and Mrs Dunbar wanted a modern kitchen that would sit naturally within their large open-plan living space. With the kitchen, dining and lounge areas all connected, the design needed to have a strong identity while still feeling at home within the wider room. We chose Häcker Systemat handleless cabinetry in AV2040 Black Fine Oak and AV6000, combining darker cabinetry with lighter finishes to give the kitchen a warm, contemporary feel.

The large central island forms the heart of the kitchen, providing plenty of space for cooking as well as somewhere to sit and spend time together. Dekton Kira was chosen for the worktops, continuing down the end of the island for a seamless finish. Seating for four makes it a natural spot for casual dining, while full-height cabinetry provides generous storage and neatly houses the NEFF appliances.

The sink area combines matching worktops and splashbacks with subtle lighting beneath the wall units. The bar area carries the same Häcker Systemat handleless cabinetry and finishes through towards the dining and living areas.

A coordinated Häcker utility room

The same attention to detail continues into the utility room, this time using Häcker Concept 130 handled cabinetry in Top Soft Cashmere and Linear Black Fine Oak. The change in cabinetry and finishes gives the utility its own character while sitting comfortably alongside the main kitchen.

The contrasting finishes bring warmth and interest to this practical space, with NEFF appliances completing the specification. Designed around everyday use, the utility provides a functional addition to the home without feeling separate from the wider scheme.

Together, the kitchen, bar and utility work effortlessly for both day-to-day life and entertaining. Each space has its own purpose and character, with a consistent approach to the cabinetry, materials and finishes bringing everything together.
